Whale watching tours are available from Reykjavik and the fishing village Husavik up north, sometimes referred to as the European Whale Watching Centre, where there is also a very interesting whale museum. Most whales are migrating and stay in the sea around Iceland from April to October. Most frequent species are the Minke whale, the Humpback whale and Dolphins. Fin whales are also common, Sperm whales and even the Blue whales have been spotted. Various types of birds can also be seen on the whale watching tours, such as puffin, guillemot, northern fulmar and the gracious gannet.
There are several companies operating the Whale watching tours both from Reykjavik and Husavik with many departures every day during the summer. The duration of the tours is usually about 3 hours.
Price of standard tour is around IKR 8.000 (USD 72/ EUR 50) for adults.
