Diving or snorkeling in the clear water of the fissure Silfra in the Thingvellir National Park is well known in the world of diving and an unforgettable experience. No previous experience is needed for snorkeling but for diving you need a PADI certificate. The operators provide dry suits and necessary equipment but you need warm underwear. This experience can be fitted into a visit to the Thingvellir National Park or a Golden Circle Tour but this needs to be planned well in advance.
If you prefer warmer water you can swim or soak in some of the numerous open air geothermal swimming pools wich you find all over Iceland – or soak in the famous Blue Lagoon or some of the natural geothermal pools and creeks which can be found in many places out in the nature.
